Larry Seiders & Carol McIntosh 433-3621 Hartwick trails. Meet at their 50 Morgan Av. cottage ready to leave at 10:00. Parking for about 5 cars in the driveway, plus some side street parking as needed. Morgan Av. intersects with Chestnut one block east of West End Street. The hike starts from their cottage at the top of the hill (last one on the paved road) , go up to Strawberry Field (about 30 minutes), then loop through the forest towards the Job Corps and back to Strawberry Field (another 30-45 minutes -- good view from the field).

Leader: David Hildreth. 746-3015. Climb Slide Mountain in the Catskills. The hike is rated A. It will have some steep climbs. Wear sturdy footwear. We will eat lunch at the top of the mountain. There is a change for the ADK bike info. for Sat., July 12. Lucille and Leon Wiggin will be leading the bike trip out the Charlotte Valley Road. Please meet at Price Chopper in Oneonta at 9:00 a.m. to drive to the starting point. Call Lucille for any additional information. 432-1022

The outing for July 15 is canoeing or kayaking on the Unadilla River. We will meet at the bridge on Route 23 in South New Berlin at 10 a.m. The bridge is located just outside of the village. Check your county map. There is a roomy place to park, but no bathrooms. It may be a little wet or muddy getting the boats in the water. Dress accordingly. The group from Oneonta will meet at 9 a.m. at the old Ames parking lot (corner of Winney Hill and Chestnut Street. Bring your canoe, kayak, paddle, water safety device, water, lunch and sunscreen. We will stop for ice cream after the paddle.

Monthly meeting. Potluck supper (no business meeting) at the Wiggin camp on Crumhorn Lake, 6:00 pm. Swim, paddle, walk, or just hang out on the deck overlooking the lake. Bring a dish to pass, drinks for yourself, and table service including a cup. Call 432-1022 for directions and to car pool.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held July 19, 2008, 3:00 o’clock p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 298 Main Street, Oneonta, New York. The family invites Johanna’s extended family and friends to join them in remembrance of her as a wife, mother, and friend. The Rev. Mark E. Montfort will officiate; a brief reception will follow the service.

The outing Tuesday, July 22, is a Clip-Clop, Waggle Walk in Bear Swamp State Forest in the Towns of Roseboom and Decatur in Otsego Co. This ski trail, newly opened after a period of harvest, requires marking, clearing and a short stretch of new trail. The area can be accessed from the north on the Buttermilk Hill road which departs from County Rt. 165 a mile or so east of the hamlet of South Valley; or from the south on the Formen Road via County Rt. 38. ( A county map is probably essential here).

Leaders: Ernie & Heide Mahlke. 432-2583. Hike the Finger Lakes Trail and side trail to Oquaga State Park (.6 mile round trip) for a picnic lunch and swim in the lake. Suitable for age 10 and older. Rated B.

We'll meet on Tuesday, July 29, at 9:30 a.m. at Gilbert Lake State Park, first parking lot, on the left as you enter park. Entrance should be free for "oldsters" with driver's license. We'll investigate the old fire tower site, some climbing from the road, and then walk over the top back to the Briggs Pavillion for lunch.
