Susquehanna Chapter ADK

Tuesday, January 12, 2010, we will Ski, Snowshoe, or Hike at Gilbert Lake State Park. Meet at 10 AM in the FIRST PARKING LOT. Those wishing to caravan from Oneonta should leave by 9:30 AM from the parking lot off of Winney Hill Road near the Dollar Store. The REVISED trail-pattern we wish to follow starts on the left side of the lake, cross the road and up the hill. Just beyond the hill top take the right trail branch to “Ice Pond,” turn left at the junction, pass “Twin Fawns Lakes,” about 1 mile further turn left at the junction to complete the loop and return to the FIRST parking lot. The total distance is about 4 miles. Bringing a lunch is optional and most likely would be eaten in your own car. For safety, hikers should wear cleats or yak-tracks on their boots.
