Most recent information on the ski or snowshoe Tuesday event led by Monica and Irv Peters, (315) 858-0261.
ONEONTA GROUP (Currie Marr will lead from old Ames at 9:30) proceed on 205 to left onto WHITEHOUSE ROAD, then keeping right at the V - and Whitehouse turns into ZACHOW which leads to the trail head at STATE LINE ROAD where leaders will be parked. There is parking but car pool if possible - keeping in mind riding with members who will be doing the same thing. 10:00 Event will start.
COOPERSTOWN GROUP proceed north on Rt. 28 to West onto Rt. 80 and South onto 205 and then right onto Whitehouse road …OR - take Rt. 80 3 or so miles and turn left onto ZACHOW road which leads to the trail head at State Line Road.
There will be a choice of either skiing OR snowshoeing - Monica will lead one group; Irv the other. The ski is not difficult and is about 3 miles on State Line Road (which is a snowmobile trail) and return same way. It should be a good ski.
The whole snowshoe takes minimum 1 and ¾ hours and is rated “C” - some hills, ups and downs - starting on the State Biological Field Station Red trail - proceeding to the Yellow trail and back making a full loop. For those who do not want to do the Yellow trail which is the somewhat hilly one, they can turn back at the Shelter and return to the starting point where the cars were left and that would take about 1 hour and is easy. We did the snowshoe yesterday and the snow is very deep but we have made a trail which should be easy to follow. CALL LEADERS AT 315 858-0261 IF NEEDING CLARIFICATION. Lunch is on your own on your return to the cars.
