Twenty-four people gathered at the Farmer's Museum on January 5. Eleven opted to cross country ski, the others went snowshoeing . We did the perimeter of the Leatherstocking Golf Course, and on the "lake side" several skiers were very daring (Lucille, Monica, Steven among others) and climbed up the hill to "tour" down. Nuala and Norma Lee continued around the lake side with Ted, then Kay caught up to them. Everyone slowly made their way back to the parking lot, where discussion was offered about the restricted parking at Mary Dunkle's home.
Twenty ADK members met at 122 Schoolhouse Road, Fly Creek, the home of Ted and Kay Kantorowski on December 8. Due to hunters STILL in the woods, it was decided to "road walk" a loop around Fly Creek, so beginning on Schoolhouse Road, following Route 26 toward the Cider Mill, and turning left onto Hoke Road and a BIG HILL we began. The temperature was about 40 degrees, and after a slight snow flurry an hour earlier, the skies cleared, became bright blue, and the sun came out. What a treat!!! We proceeded into the hamlet of "Cat Town", a section of Oaksville, along Route 28.
Thirteen hikers gathered and walked the new trails at Clark Tower this AM. It was pleasant for the first hour, but grew warmer as the morning wore on, and by the time we finished at noon (lunchtime) the mosquitoes were ready for lunch as well!!!! In spite of that, a good time was had by all.
The October 7 hike was led by Kay and Ted Kantorowski. 36 hikers met at the Clark Sports Center to consolidate riders/cars. The sun was bright, the sky blue, and the frost meant that everyone had on an extra layer. But once we got on the path at Clark Tower and began walking, everyone warmed up, and the walk proceeded south from the entrance gate, along an ATV/snowmobile path, up around the cornfield and back to the Clark Tower.
