Rail Trail Hike – Tuesday, May 15, 2018

Photos by Jennifer Hyypio - A few pics from the “non” hike Tuesday. When the rain and lightning cancelled the Rail Trail hike starting at the trailhead in Bloomville, a few of us went to a café where we celebrated Julie Smiths birthday!

Franklin Mountain Hike – Tuesday, May 8, 2018

Hike Photos - On a sunny, balmy day 22 people walked from the Hebbard’s property through meadows and on roads to see their neighbor’s spectacular Daffodil gardens in prime-bloom. Along the way a diversity of wild life was noted – deer, frogs, fish, and wildflowers (e.g. Spring Beauty).

Clark Tower Trails – Tuesday, May 1, 2018

Report by Liza Mundy - What a lovely day for a hike. Twenty-two participants hiked the Clark Tower trails. To start, a 1/2 mile hike around the field to get a great view of Otsego Lake, and then up to the tower. There is little written history on this structure, built by Ambrose Clark, but a lot of interesting gossip.

Hunt’s Pond Hike – Tuesday, April 24, 2018

Report by Ruth Shaeffer - The hike on April 24 was at Hunt's Pond, South New Berlin. It was a beautiful, bright day with 19 hikers ready to enjoy a hike. A few remembered hiking here, but for many it was a new area. This week the ice was gone for the most part, just a little spot here and there. We walked mostly by the pond and saw Colt's Foot along the road.

Pine Lake Hike – Tuesday, April 17, 2018

Report by Aleda Koehn - Nine ADKers braved cold, snow showers, and rain, and arrived at Hartwick's Pine Lake Campus. The original plan was to hike to Mud Lake but with all the past rain, and streams overflowing, and no wild flowers yet to be seen, it was decided to walk the Pine Lake property instead. We had a pleasant hike in spite of occasional flurries of snow.

Susquehanna Greenway -Tuesday, April 10, 2018

Report by Linda Pearce - Fifteen people met to walk the 2.5 mi. Greenway trail along the Susquehanna River. We were amazed to see all the recent beaver activity along the river. Many sapling-size trees had been removed and larger ones had been gnawed. One of the early signs of spring was evident with the emergence of skunk cabbage.

South Hill State Forest - Tuesday, April 3, 2018

Report by Bob Ciganek -South Hill State Forest welcomed 13 ADKers on this snowy April 3rd morning. Snow still covered most of our path which made for a quiet and surreal spring day. Even the birds were silent. This site deserves a late spring revisit. Photos by Betsy O'Brien Click photos twice for maximum enlargement.

Lower Riddell State Park – Tuesday 13, 2018

Report by Lucille Wiggin - As it turned out the snow fall by 10 AM was just perfect for our purposes. Six women “Seenagers” enjoyed playing in a beautiful Winter Wonder Land, typical of our Great Northeast. There were two of each, x/c skiers, snowshoers and walkers.
