Glimmerglass State Park – Tuesday, December 5, 2017

Report by Julie Smith - Sixteen hikers joined Jeff O'Handley, OCCA Program Director, on Tuesday December 5 for an enjoyable and invigorating walk on the Sleeping Lion Trail near Glimmerglass State Park, Cooperstown. The weather was windy with spotty rain, but very mild temperatures. The many views of Otsego Lake were worth every step. Thanks, Jeff, for a great hike.


Crumhorn Lake Hike – Tuesday, November 28, 2017

Report by Lucille Wiggin - The Nov. 28th hike was thru a beautiful pine forest area of the Crumhorn Mt. Boy Scout Camp out to the road toward Portlandville and then around the lake, about four miles in all. Along the way we saw a section of the camp being logged and caught a glimpse of the new dining hall under construction.


Red Creek Farm Hike – Tuesday, November 21, 2017

Report by Julia Smith - Our ADK hike on 11/21 was led by Marcie of the Otsego County Land Trust. Beginning at Red Creek Farm, we entered a beautiful woods along Red Creek just off Route 33 out of Cooperstown. All twenty-three ADKers felt the two miles of utopia went much too quickly. Again, thank you Marcie.

Milford Nordic Ski Trail – Tuesday, October 31, 2017

Report by Bob Ciganek and Julie Smith - Twenty seven ADKers trekked along the Milford Nordic Ski Trail near Arnold Lake State Forest. Texas School House State Forest – Tuesday, October 17, 2017

Report by Linda Pearce - It was a beautiful autumn morning, crisp and sunny, to explore a new trail at Texas School House State Forest in the town of New Lisbon. Twenty-four of us started at the Lena Rd. entrance and hiked about a mile into the forest on what was probably an old logging road.


Mud Lake and Pine Lake Hikes – Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Report by Aleda Koehn - On a lovely morning that got clearer and sunnier as the time went by, twenty hikers did the five mile round trip to Mud Lake in upper Riddle State Park. After a short but strenuous pitch, the remaining two miles were a pleasant gradual uphill walk. The forest was a mix of green, yellow, and brown with an occasional bright red spot from maples.


Grand Gorge Rail Trail - Tuesday, October 3, 2017

Report by Bob Ciganek and Julie Smith - Sixteen ADKers sensed the absolute beauty of a Catskill Fall day on the Grand Gorge Rail Trail. Massive Lichen-covered stones followed us on one side while meadows and beaver engineering kept our interest on the other. Pleasant conversation carried over from the trail to lunch and ice cream at Sundaes.


Valley View Trails – Tuesday, September 26, 2017

Report by Ruth Shaeffer: - Approximately twenty hikers met on a very hot, muggy day to hike Valley View hiking trails in Unadilla, NY. We followed the perimeter trail. We walked down one hill to admire the view of the valley and the hills across the valley. Most of the hike was shaded which was very nice. We finished up with a lunch around the pond.


Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park - Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017

Report by Linda Pearce - A sunny, warm morning welcomed us for our hike at Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park in the Town of Westford. We walked the 3-mile loop around the perimeter of the park on Andy's Trail, which is a very well maintained trail through the woods and fields. We enjoyed the colorful fall wildflowers of goldenrod, purple asters and black-eyed Susans.
