Hartwick and Job Corps Trails Hike – Tuesday, January 19, 2016

Report by Aleda Koehn - Just because it had snowed all evening, and the temperature was about 15 degrees , and the wind was blowing around 30 miles per reason to cancel an ADK hike. I set my alarm so I would have time to shovel the driveway, and still make the hike location by Hartwick's Binder gym. I arrived but wondered if anyone would show up. After waiting for a bit, a car pulled in. Two hikers- Kathy and Chris Carey - all the way from Delhi !

Fortin Park Hike – Tuesday, January 26, 2016

Report by Currie Marr - Twenty people enjoyed a walk in Fortin Park. While there was insufficient snow to ski or snowshoe, the warm temperature and absence of freezing-rain (forecasted) provided comfortable conditions. We walked the perimeter of the entire park that includes the parcel near Charlotte Creek and Susquehanna River and the hillside behind the Fortin house, about 2 miles.

Deer Haven Campsites Hike – Tuesday, January 15, 2016

Report by Dick Breuninger - Fourteen members including the leader Dick Breuninger hiked up the hill in West End to the Deer Haven Campsites owned by Brett and Mica Holleran. The wind was strong and stung at our faces as we walked. One could see as far as Otego to the SW and beyond Southside Drive to the SE. Logs were being hauled up to a loading area to be carted away.

Ridge Road Hike – Tuesday, January 5, 2016

Report by Kathy Carey - Sixteen hardy hikers braved the cold for the first group hike of the New Year. The temperature was 3 degrees, but it was sunny and there was no wind. The hike was on Ridge Road, a seasonal dirt road and it covered 4 miles, slightly more or less, depending on whose GPS you wanted to believe.

Crumhorn Mt. Boy Scout Camp Hike - Tuesday, December 15, 2015

Report by Lucille Wiggin - About 15 people turned out for a two mile walk thru the Crumhorn Mt. Boy Scout camp and around the lake past the private cottages. We saw the site prepared for the new camp dining hall. It is interesting that the Boy Scouts visited our ADK Hart Lake LOJ for ideas on converting their present dining hall into bunk rooms.

Gilbert Lake State Park Hike – Tuesday, December 08, 2015

Report by Currie Marr - On an unseasonably mild-weather day19 ADKers walked around Gilbert Lake. Most participants extended the walk through the lower cabin area. Along the way we enjoyed a revitalizing snack, met a couple walking in the cabin area, and passed by the newly decorated Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Among the decorations this year were Snoopy and contributions from our group.

Oneonta Greenway Hike – Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Report by Erika Baker-Heinegg - Six enthusiastic hikers came out on this wet morning only to find that the rain had stopped and walking the well-groomed trail boosted our spirits. We rediscovered that the Greenway is a beautiful contribution to our Oneonta community in all seasons and weather. We anticipate the upcoming winter weather for skiing and snowshoeing.
