Report by Julie Smith - The OCCA and ADK walk on Tuesday was enjoyed by fifteen hikers. It was a beautiful, sunny, cold morning with lots of snow on the trails. A few opted for the shorter route, but the majority continued for another two miles through the hemlock and spruce forests. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful morning.

Rail Trail Hike in Stamford, NY – Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Report by Bob Ciganek - Our ADK hike on a portion of the Stamford, NY Rail Trail was cool, clear and enjoyable. The 5 miles we covered was filled with conversation and highlighted by an active eagle's nest. Most of the 20 hikers met later at Stewart's for lunch, more conversation, and ice cream. Hike to Star Field in Cooperstown, NY – Tuesday, March 8, 2016

Report by Lucille Wiggin - Tuesday the 8th was a most unusual March day, with temperatures up to 65 and no wind. So, 21 enthusiastic ADKers walked a trail we have neglected for several years; the old Carriage Road from Chicken Farm Hill Rd. to Star Field along the east ridge above Otsego Lake. It is “mud season” so the trail was alternately wonderful and challenging.

Fortin Park Hike – Tuesday, March 1, 2016

Report by Norma Lee Havens - What a beautiful day for a hike at Fortin Park. Twenty three sturdy souls were ready and waiting at the Park. Each was supplied with a plastic bag for treasures. When the hike ended the treasures were collected and taken to the transfer station. I am sure the Town of Oneonta was pleased with our efforts at spring cleaning.

Pine Lake Hike - Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Report by Julie Smith - Nineteen ADK members and friends enjoyed a beautiful winter morning walk through the woods at Pine Lake Environmental Campus on Tues. 2/9. There was just enough snow on the ground to add freshness to the landscape. Thanks to zero wind and occasional sun peaking through the clouds, we all stayed quite warm.

Lower Riddell Hike - Tuesday, February 2, 2016

Photos by Fred Johnson – Led by Jim Austin, more than 20 turned out to walk the snow-free trails of Lower Riddell Park. The red object shown is the “Cinnabar-red Polypore,” a shelf fungus growing on deciduous trees.

Winterfest at Gilbert Lake – Saturday, January 30, 2016

Photos by Fred Johnson - About 8 ADK members attended the “Cabin Fever Winterfest” at Gilbert Lake. Five Star Subaru sponsored the event to encourage people to get outdoors – even in the winter. Photos are of the ADK Display Board and the decorated “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree found by walking the trail around the Lake. Click photos to enlarge.

Hartwick and Job Corps Trails Hike – Tuesday, January 19, 2016

Report by Aleda Koehn - Just because it had snowed all evening, and the temperature was about 15 degrees , and the wind was blowing around 30 miles per reason to cancel an ADK hike. I set my alarm so I would have time to shovel the driveway, and still make the hike location by Hartwick's Binder gym. I arrived but wondered if anyone would show up. After waiting for a bit, a car pulled in. Two hikers- Kathy and Chris Carey - all the way from Delhi !

Fortin Park Hike – Tuesday, January 26, 2016

Report by Currie Marr - Twenty people enjoyed a walk in Fortin Park. While there was insufficient snow to ski or snowshoe, the warm temperature and absence of freezing-rain (forecasted) provided comfortable conditions. We walked the perimeter of the entire park that includes the parcel near Charlotte Creek and Susquehanna River and the hillside behind the Fortin house, about 2 miles.
