Long Path & Vroman’s Nose – Tuesday. August 9, 2016

Report by Ruth Schaeffer - 26 hikers attempted the Long Path, "Cliff" hike in Middleburgh on a beautiful, sunny August day! It was a challenging hike but we all rose to the occasion and it was quite an accomplishment for us! Four hikers continued on with the original plan to also hike Vroman's nose. The rest of us decided to leave that for another day.


Rail Trail in South Columbia - Tuesday, August 2, 2016

Report by Julia Smith - The hike on Tuesday, Aug. 2, was the Rail Trail in South Columbia. Twenty-four met at the 1930's Creamery building for a very interesting talk by owner, Ben Gottfried, about the train track history. John Skinner, told us about his boyhood experiences taking milk from the farm to the train for transport. The day turned out beautiful for the 3 mile hike to Richfield Springs.


Sharon Springs Walk & Historical Presentation – Tuesday, July 26, 2016

Franklin Mountain Hike – Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Windswept Acres Horse Farm Hike – Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park Hike – Tuesday, July 5, 2016

Photos by Betsy O’Brien - Led by Linda Pearce, ADkers walked the 2.8 mile trail that loops around the perimeter of the park. Most of the trail was through the woods - a small portion through a field. Afterwards many ate lunch in the pavilion. Click on photos to enlarge.


Star Field Hike and K-9 Demonstration - Tuesday, June 28, 2016

After the hike Sargent Brewer arranged a demonstration how these police dogs are trained to track, attack, and locate drugs, cadavers and bombs. Click on photos to enlarge.


Goodyear Lake Hike – Tuesday, June 21, 2016

Report by Linda Pearce - The first full day of summer brought with it a beautiful morning for hiking at Goodyear Lake. Twenty-nine participated in the walk to the Collier's Dam, while three others walked on the lake roads. Our 3-mile hike to the dam took us along the railroad tracks, then on Silliman Cove Road to the State Land.

SUNY Oneonta College Camp Hike – Tuesday, June 7, 2016

Report by Currie Marr - Twenty-two participants hiked a 3.5 mile, red-orange trail-loop, through the woodlands of College Camp. Along the way we stopped at a map-station and traced our route, fantasized that a deformed tree trunk was a prehistoric animal, and noted blooming wildflowers.
