Tue. May 5th hike on the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Sanctuary brought out 25 people to dare the forecasted showers. We hiked thru the Sanctuary onto a long abandoned road that parallels Swart Hollow Rd. south toward the old White Hill School intersection. This is from our 1915 Natl. Geo. Survey map, as the farm houses and school are long gone. Following various woodland trails we noted the violets, low bush blue berry, strawberry and shad tree blossoms. Back at the Sanctuary we enjoyed our lunches at the Hawk Watch site overlooking Oneonta’s “greening up” valley.
