Report by Currie Marr – On an unseasonably mild-weather day19 ADKers walked around Gilbert Lake. Most participants extended the walk through the lower cabin area. Along the way we enjoyed a revitalizing snack, met a couple walking in the cabin area, and passed by the newly decorated Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Among the decorations this year were Snoopy and contributions from our group. The spindly C.B. spruce tree was first discovered on a hike led by Norma Lee Havens. In her trip report she wrote, “Along the trail we saw some strange sights: imagine a sweet little decorated Christmas tree; how about folks on December 4th peeled down to sleeveless shirts/jeans; or what about a huge old pine tree getting hugged by two tree huggers. The ADK Tuesday Hike on December 4th, 2012 was not the usual.” Concluding our hike were delectable Christmas cookies baked by Ruth Shaeffer. Thank you Ruth!
