Report by Monica Peters – Twenty hikers and one guest joined the leaders, Monica and Irv Peters, at the parking area on Basswood Road off State Route 16. We began on the Blue Trail and stopped to observe a large beaver house en route. We continued on to the Pond and dam where we had a homemade gorp stop; then followed the Blue and Yellow trail and some observed a huge pile of red squirrel debris at the base of a tree. We came out to Jacobs Road; followed that a few yards and continued the loop returning to the Pond area. We then followed the trail south and back to our cars, about 2 ½ miles total. The leaders provided homemade cranberry nut bars at the end of the trail. Most enjoyed the snack and all enjoyed the lovely unseasonably warm sunny morning. Photographs are by Fred Johnson.
