Report by Linda Pearce – On a brisk and sunny morning, twenty-five hikers gathered by the barn at Milford State Forest. Our hike took us on a snowmobile trail through the woods, then along State Land Road, and on a woodland loop on the north side of State Land Rd. where several of the hikers stopped to observe a porcupine in a tree near the trail. Our return trail took us by a pond where the beavers had been hard at work building up the lower perimeter of the pond with numerous sticks. As we finished our nearly 4 mile hike, it had warmed up nicely making it a very pleasant morning. Photographsby Julie Smith.
