Report by Currie Marr – Based on a weather advisory of slippery roads, the Gilbert Lake hike was cancelled. The cancellation notice was posted on the ADK website and people congregating at the old-Ames plaza were told. Earlier this year only 1 ornament remained on the Charlie Brown tree. So, you can image my surprise to find the tree redecorated when I previewed the route on Monday. Too bad, Monday’s weather did not last one more day. Tuesday afternoon Fred Johnson took a photo (1) of the 2017 tree. For comparison, photo (2) is 2016, and photo (3) is 2011. This spindly C.B. spruce tree was first discovered 6 years ago on a hike led by Norma Lee Havens.
