Report by Linda Pearce – On a gorgeous summer morning, thirty-one hikers gathered at our house to walk at Goodyear Lake. While seven people walked on the lake roads, the rest of us did the 3-mile walk on the south end of the lake. After going along the railroad tracks and Silliman Cove Rd., we came to the state land that was upgraded in 2014 to provide a handicap accessible trail along the shore of the lake to a picnic and fishing site. As we stood on the point looking out at the lake, right on cue, we were fortunate to observe a “fly-by” of an adult bald eagle. We continued past the portage for the General Clinton Canoe Regatta, the Collier’s Dam and then through some privately owned woods. We returned to our backyard to eat our lunch and enjoy some ice cream and fellowship. We all agreed it was a beautiful morning for our outing.
