Report by Jim and Carolyn Austin – Twenty-three adults and five children hiked the Goat Trail Loop at Homer Folks State Forest on Tuesday, August 20. The 3.5 miles consisted of various types of trails and scenery. We traipsed through open areas and then into the woods where we often had to step over rocks and roots. At times, ferns provided the ground cover. We were fortunate to have a pleasant, warm sunny day, but greatly enjoyed the coolness of the tree canopy.
