Report by Currie Marr -On a sunny fall-like day, 26 people came to College Camp for a 2.7 mile hike. The hike started on the Blue Trail with a climb to a patch of grass with a bench. From this point we looped back following a trail with purple-markers. The trail was in good condition and well-marked. Along the way we went through hardwoods, pine plantations, and some meadows. Of particular interest to the group were “Indian Pipes” and purple mushrooms. When the first mushroom with purple gills (Laccaria sp.) was found one grandson in the group exclaimed, “It fits, purple mushrooms and purple trail.” Photo Credits: Group photo by Irene Jervis; Other photos by Scott Fielder
