As we carefully proceed with our hiking schedule, week by week, several ADKers, looking like bandits, came to enjoy a walk at Goodyear Lake. Adhering to COVID guidelines, we all wore masks and practiced social distancing. Julie Smith led a group of six on a shorter and easier walk on the lake roads. Twelve of us did about a 3 mi. hike along the RR tracks, on a nice trail through the woods, passing the Colliers Dam,
and onto the trail developed by the DEC a few years ago. We observed a variety of fungi as we walked and also enjoyed the views of the lake. As a virus precaution, we skipped our usual lunch and ice cream in the backyard after the hike.
