Report by Linda Pearce. December 21, 2021 – the first day of winter – and a mild morning it was. A robin sang nearby as twenty-eight people gathered in the parking lot of Damaschke Field in Neahwa Park. Our approximate 2.5 mile walk started out passing Hodges Pond as several Canada geese paraded by on their way to the frozen pond. We went up along the Mill Race that is part of the Susquehanna Greenway and then around Catella Park which is used as soccer fields. Back in Neahwa Park, we passed the skateboard park and the new dog park, went around the softball fields and returned along the Memorial Walkway. Returning to our cars, we viewed some of the Festival of Lights displays that had been set up by local businesses, organizations and individuals. Many commented that they would come back to drive through in the evening when the displays would be lit up.
