Report by Jim and Carolyn Austin. January 25 was a cloudy, crisp morning. Due to construction along the Mill Race, cars had to be parked at the Damaschke Field parking lot. This added half a mile to our planned 3 mile hike. Fifteen hikers began walking through Catella Park to New Island. Two hikers then decided to instead walk the park roads in Neahwa Park. Four plus inches of fresh snow covered the hard packed trail. We trudged along enjoying the beauty of the Susquehanna River and the woods. Unfortunately, there were no duck sightings on the river. Blue sky and sun did break through as we neared the end of our New Island hike.
