Report by Tom Austin. On a sunny, balmy day with temperatures up to 20° at hike start and two hours later 30°, twenty-one hikers walked the Catskill Railtrail. Led by Tom and Roberta Austin, we started at Vasta’s parking lot in Stamford, entered the trail toward Hobart and walked out an hour. A little over 2.5 miles later, at the one-hour mark, the group turned around. Some were impressed they covered a total of five miles and some went slower and covered less mileage. The trail was well groomed and easy to walk on.
For most of the group, lunch at Vasta’s Restaurant followed our outing.
