Report by Linda Pearce. Twenty-one hikers came out on a brisk, sunny afternoon for our hike at Goodyear Lake. Led by Barb Baumann, five people opted to do an easier and shorter walk of two miles on the lake roads. The other fifteen, equipped with crampons and poles, did a three-mile hike from our house to the Collier’s Dam. We passed through the Goodyear Lake Fishing Access site which is included as one of Otsego Outdoors Winter Octet challenges. Many of our members are working to complete the eight challenges for this winter period. From the trail along the lake’s edge, we observed numerous people ice fishing. From the picnic area on the point, we continued on a trail to the dam where we turned around, backtracked a short distance and then on a different trail through the woods. We were all pleased that the afternoon temperatures were much more comfortable than they would have been for a morning hike.
