July 12th, 2022 – Arnold Lake State Forest

Report by Jim and Carolyn Austin.  Twenty-four hikers had a perfect morning for the 3.3 mile Nordic Trail hike in Arnold Lake State Forest.   Mostly we were in the shade of the forest and everyone was prepared with long pants for the high grass.  At a few places we had to skirt around some muddy areas.  In the forest we could see where logging has occurred and at the end of the hike, the site of an old stone quarry.  The walkie talkies were a big help for communication, until Carolyn’s came detached from her pocket.  Fortunately it wasn’t too far to backtrack to find it.
