Report by Barbara Baumann. With temperatures in the 40s and light rain falling, twenty-three enthusiastic hikers, wearing raincoats, ponchos and/or carrying umbrellas, made their way around the former F&F Airpark’s landing/take-off field. Near the banks of the Susquehanna River we sighted mergansers. By the Charlotte Creek we noted the power of water to change its course. As we walked, we talked about the indigenous peoples who gathered on the same banks as much as 4000 years ago for their autumn hunting and fishing camps. We also shared our personal experiences at Fortin Park. When we got back to the parking lot and the hangars/ice skating rink, we decided to wait for a dryer day to walk around the upper field.
